Pattern Of Neet

NEET stands for National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test. After passing so many obstacles, MCI ( Medical Council of India ) has finally decided to conduct NEET from 2013 and onwards. This exam will be conducted for taking admissions in various medical colleges of India. This exam has been proposed to reduce the pressure of students, aspiring to take admissions in MBBS colleges.

Earlier, several exams were conducted every year, for admissions into various medical colleges of India. CBSE used to conduct medical exam in two stages – AIPMT Prelims and AIPMT Mains, for filling 15 % seats of every Medical

college of India except AIIMS. Then every state of India were conducting separate exams for admission in the medical colleges of that state. Due to this, students used to prepare differently for appearing in different exams. To reduce the pressure of students, Ministry of Human Resource Development ( MHRD ) suggested MCI for a single medical entrance exam called NEET. This exam was to start from 2012 but due to objections of various state governments, it was postponed for a year.

NEET will be conducted from 2013 and based on the rank of this exam, students can take admission into various private and government Medical colleges for studying UG MBBS course. Admissions for studying other courses like BDS, BAMS etc. will also be based on the result of NEET. AIIMS and JIPMER have opted to remain out of NEET. It will conduct its own exam. But other exams like BHU, AFMC, AMU etc. will not be conducted from 2013. Admissions in these colleges will take place, based on the rank obtained in NEET.

NEET will be conducted by CBSE. Syllabus of NEET has been released after comparing the syllabus of every board. It is not purely based on NCERT. So you need to work hard. You can download the syllabus of NEET by clicking on the link given below. About 10,00,000 students are estimated to appear in this exam for only 30,000 seats. Competition is going to

be intense.

Drawbacks of NEET :
